In terms of poker, I’m going to focus this year on game selection. More grinding, more playing of lower stakes. Less taking shots at bigger events.

I think making goals for women is pretty lame. You’d have to be a total douchebag to think ‘ok, I gotta hit double digits this year in the number of girls I bed’ or whatnot. I suppose if I was going to have a goal, I’d stress quality over quantity. Ahhhhh, how your values change when you get older

Last year actually saw a 500 entrant gain. However, that was well before the stock market crashes. I think a lot of people that win at a satellite seat at a US site (who can’t register people directly) will just keep the money. Also, from what I can tell, the European sites seem to be scaling back on their WSOP promotions…opting to focus more on EPT events and other stuff like that to promote. I just don’t see the WSOP holding its number of entrants this year, but I don’t see a cataclysmic drop either.

One thing that takes most guys a long time to learn, if they ever learn it at all, is how to go about sleeping with lots of women. We all have that one buddy who just seems to have been born with some type of voodoo womanizing abilities. It’s frustrating watching them work because it almost seems effortless. But that’s the thing! It is effortless for him!

The guys who do the best with women aren’t “trying” to do well with women. They “just do it”. The mentality needed to make this happen can’t really be taught in a flash. It takes life experience and trial-and-error. However, even by doing something as simple as reading this article, you’ve made a dent in that quest.

Perhaps the most important thing I wish I knew when I was a helpless virgin struggling to get laid is that women don’t want a guy who is really into them, they want a guy who is really into himself. I know that sounds kind of odd, but it’s completely true. Of course, they don’t want a guy who is totally self-absorbed and stares at himself in the mirror all day, but they do want a guy who is very secure and confident about who he is as a person. Women love the stability that comes from being around someone like that.

Put Your Needs First

First thing is first, if you’re trying to get with a girl, don’t make her the center of all the attention. Always agreeing with her or constantly complimenting her is going to kill your chances of hooking up with her. Disagree with her. Poke fun at her. Tell her you think she might be crazy. Of course, do this all in a playful, flirtatious manner, but make sure you convey that you’re the man and that she should feel lucky to get the chance to spend time with you.

How to Fake It Until You Make It

It actually takes quite a bit of practice to transition from whipped pussy to playa. While you’re still working out the kinks, a good way to “fake it until you make it” is to reference yourself and your opinions a lot in conversation. Even making completely arbitrary statements like “I never was a big fan of Arby’s, their sandwiches are too bready if you ask me,” demonstrates value and an ability to think for yourself. Women like that. No girl wants a guy who worships her existence and builds her up onto this huge pedestal. It’s boorish and depressing. In addition to that, it places unfair expectations on them to live up to all the talk you’ve said about them.

While it’s true that the World Series of Poker (WSOP) attracts the best players from around the world, there are plenty of terrible players too. There’s a reason all the pros show up: it’s the juiciest series of tournaments in the world (by far).

Finishing in the money in a WSOP event should not be viewed as an almighty achievement. It’s really quite doable even if you’re not that great of a player or fairly new to the game. Of course, the variance associated with tournaments means you’ll mostly likely fail more than succeed in any one random event. However, here are a few tips to help you increase your chances of cashing at the WSOP.

Don’t Bluff a Ton

In general, players probably bluff too much in poker. What makes the WSOP great is that people almost never fold. Don’t bluff away your chips to some clown who is never going to fold his top pair.

Play Tight and Sensible

Don’t overthink things or try do make some sexy play like you see on TV. Keep the “KISS” mentality (keep it simple, stupid) on the forefront of your mind in a WSOP event. Who cares if it seems like you’re playing predictably? People are still bad enough that you’ll be able to get ahold of chips anyway.

Push Your Edges Hard

If you have a hand like pocket Aces or a flopped set, come out firing. Like I mentioned before, players don’t like to fold at the WSOP, so punish them big time for calling. When you have a monster hand, think about how much you want to bet, and then add like 25-33% to that bet.

Don’t Play Out of Position

Become obsessive about not finding yourself in situations where you are the first one to act on the betting rounds. This means fold your blind hands a lot and play really tight in early position. The luxury of being able to see what your opponent does before having to make any decisions is huge at the WSOP.

To many guys, strippers seem like an exotic treasure that is almost impossible to have for yourself. The best you can do is pay $20 a song for a tease of what it must be like to get with her. This is entirely not the case.

Dating or sleeping with a stripper is completely achievable. Sometimes it doesn’t even require a whole lot of effort. I could probably write a book about the ins and outs of strippers and how to have sex with them, but let’s just hit the main points.

Don’t Be A Customer

The first and most important thing to do when trying to get with a stripper is not to let her slip into the lull of “customer mode” when she is with you. These girls see several men every night. To them, most of the guys are the same and are nothing special. You have to be the exception to this. Make her laugh, bullshit around with her, but make it clear up front that you’re not some chump customer. Customers don’t get laid. They just overpay for an elaborate tease.

When a stripper sits down with me, my approach is to do something to make her laugh, but shortly after accomplishing that (thus anchoring her interest in being around me), I say something along the lines of, “hey just so you know, I don’t do lap dances. You’re welcome to hang out and I’d love to buy you a drink, but if tonight’s the night to make money for the bills, I don’t want to waste your time.” You’d be amazed at how receptive and appreciative they are for this honesty. The thing strippers hate the most is spending 45 minutes talking to some guy only to have him say “no thanks” when she asks if he wants a dance.

Get Lucky

There is a huge fallacy that strippers are cunning opportunists or career-oriented earners. That is total bs. Strippers are usually lazy party girls that live night to night on whatever money they can make at the club. It can be frustrating trying to organize a way to hang out with a stripper outside of the club. Most of them are so lazy, clueless, and unreliable, that it makes it hard to try to hook up with them. They also almost always have at least one kid too which really cramps things.

There are a couple ways to try to sleep with a stripper. If she has spent a lot of time with you and seems to be enjoying herself, you could try to meet up with her at a bar that night. Use some line like, “hey wanna do one last drink at [some bar] before you head home?” If you can get her to meet you outside of the club, your chances go up a lot. If she’s really into you, you could try to swap out a bar with your place in that invitation.

Lastly, another way to sleep with them is to develop a nice rapport with them and then just take them with you to Vegas on your next poker trip. Not cheap by any means, but getting laid rarely is.

Feel like burning a few bridges with your guy friends? Why not take their money before you do it! The good old fashion homegame is where you can have the biggest edge playing poker. If you play online or in a casino, you’ll likely play against people who actually know what they are doing, plus you’ll be paying casino rake. Play against your friends, and you have free reign. Here are a few tips to especially line your pockets.

Don’t Play A Tournament

Tournaments have the least skill in comparison to cash games. Avoid a tournament with your friends like the plague. That plus it’s harder to amp up the stakes since all the money is paid upfront. Don’t let your friends get by on paying $5 entry into a tournament. You want them ponying up at least $5 a hand.

Play 7-Card Stud or Pot Limit Omaha, not Texas Hold’em

Nowadays, most people can play Texas Hold’em at least somewhat competently. Only a total newbie will play 95 offsuit, and most people even know to dump hands like A6 offsuit.

This isn’t the case with 7-stud and pot limit Omaha. These games are relatively new to most people. Most people know the rules, but they don’t know the strategy.

Seven stud is a very boring, fold-happy game. So you’ll get most of your edge just by being patient. Boring yes, but profitable yes as well. Most newbies play every hand, like they do all poker games. This is an especially disasterous move in 7-stud. The main problem with 7-stud though is that it’s generally played for fixed limits.

Here’s where pot limit Omaha comes in. It’s not a fold happy game at all; you can play a lot of starting hands. But the pots get huge in this game, and drunken newbies will often go all in with top pair or something when you have the nut straight. They play their hands like hold’em hands, which means way too loose and aggressively. Recipe for getting all their money quickly.

Get Them Drunk

Need I say more? That $10 bottle of Smirnoff will more than pay for itself.

Guys like poker. Guys like women. The funny thing is the two pretty much have nothing to do with each other.

Yes, some think “oooh, if I win a bunch of money at poker, I’ll get the womenz.” If buy you mean “I’ll blow my tournament winnings on hookers,” you would be correct. Otherwise no.

Most of us don’t make enough money playing poker to go on a hooker spree. Given pretty much no women play poker, the two then have nothing to do with each other.

Also, while poker teaches you to think logically and calculatively….let’s just say, using that sort of logic to pick up girls generally doesn’t work so well.

But hey, we guys love poker and we love women, so this blog will be about both. Just the two generally won’t have much to do with each other. In a sense, it’s almost like a dual blog.

Oh, gotta love the theme’s header, huh?
